January 25, 2016 The big ideas of this unit is to explain on how laws in Canada and to a degree, the western world, developed. At one point in time, people were having duels to settle conflict. People were undergoing physical torture in the hopes that the truth would come about. All of which were revamped and a more just, fair legal system originated. January 26, 2016 - Answer the five questions on page 12. January 27, 2016 - By the end of today's lesson, you should be able to explain the differences between public and private (civil) law) and identify several areas of law that fit into these areas of law. In addition, you should know the differences between procedural law and substantive law. You should know the functions of the law and what any law most be composed of for it to be a law. January 28, 2016 - Read pages 12 to 19 in your textbook and take notes that you feel is most important. January 29, 2016- Complete the five questions on page 21. Read up to page 26. We will have a quiz tomorrow based on the readings up until page 26. February 1-2, 2016 - You are to complete readings up to page 35 and the review questions on pages 34 and 35. February 3, 2016 - Chapter 1 Test February 4, 2016 - We will be starting an introduction session on the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. February 5, 2016 - I have uploaded the Oakes Test pdf on the left column. You are responsible to completely read and answer all of the questions.
